Compatibility requirements
In order to connect a charger to the Longship platform there are three requirements. The charger should:
- Have a public internet connection
- Support the OCPP 1.6 JSON protocol
- Support configurability of the backoffice endpoint
⚠ Note: When a charger is compliant to these requirements it is technically possible to connect the charger. However, it is still possible that specific functionality is disabled in a charger (for instance the ability to change the backoffice endpoint). This can differ for models and firmware versions.
Additional requirements to start public charging with a charge card:
- RFID reader
Without a RFID reader a charger can still support public charging through the use of an app or a QR code.

Incompatible hardware
For some chargers we have experienced issues to connect them to our platform. This usually has to do with not complying to one of the compatibility requirements listed above.
Hardware | Reden |
Old EVBoxes (pre-Elvi stations) | Older version of OCPP and vendor lock-in through the sim card |
LMS chargers with LMS controller | Backoffice endpoint is unconfigurable + protocol is divergent |
Chargers with locked-in SIM cards (eg. Greenflux) | Public internet is necessary |
