Compatibility requirements

To connect a charger to the Longship platform, there are three essential requirements that the charger should meet:

  1. Public Internet Connection: The charger must have access to a public internet connection to establish communication with the Longship platform.
  2. OCPP 1.6 JSON Protocol Support: The charger should support the OCPP 1.6 JSON protocol.
  3. Configurability of Backoffice Endpoint: The charger must allow configuration of the backoffice endpoint, which is essential for establishing the connection with the Longship platform.

Note: If a charger fulfills these requirements, it is technically possible to connect it to the Longship platform. However, certain functionalities may still be disabled in specific chargers, such as the ability to change the backoffice endpoint. This variation can be due to different charger models and firmware versions.

Additional Requirements for Public Charging with a Charge Card:

RFID Reader: To enable public charging using a charge card, the charger should be equipped with an RFID reader. Without an RFID reader, public charging can still be supported through the use of a mobile app or a QR code.

Incompatible hardware

For some chargers we have experienced issues to connect them to our platform. This usually has to do with not complying to one of the compatibility requirements listed above.

HardwareReden
Old EVBoxes (pre-Elvi stations)Older version of OCPP and vendor lock-in through the sim card
LMS chargers with LMS controllerBackoffice endpoint is unconfigurable + protocol is divergent
Chargers with locked-in SIM cards (eg. Greenflux)Public internet is necessary
